Manual definition of a response spectrum
A response spectrum can be defined entirely manually. A list of couples of values [frequency ; acceleration] or [period ; acceleration] must be input.
Name
Name of the spectrum, as it appears in the library and in the selection dropdown menus
Drawing type
Display and input mode of the spectrum.
- When Frequency is selected, the input table accepts frequency and acceleration values . The corresponding period values are calculated.
- When Period is selected, the input table accepts period and acceleration values. The corresponding frequency values are calculated.
Input type
Defines if the spectrum is defined manually or by a generator. In the current case, select Manual input.
Max frequency & Step
These two settings are used by spectrum generators only and cannot be edited when using manual input. The values of the spectrum are generated between a maximum period of 4 seconds (=0.25 Hz) and the input maximum frequency, using the input Step value.
Manipulation of the table
Right-clicking in the top left corner of the table or on a row header (row number on the left) displays a context menu.
The options Insert new line, Delete line, Delete all lines, Clear line and Clear all lines are self-explanatory.
The options Copy all and Paste all allow to copy-paste the content of the table to/from an external application (e.g. Excel).
Using the clipboard to copy data to/from the Seismic spectrum library
Paste external data into the table:
- Copy function data to the clipboard (e.g. from Excel)
- Right-click on the top left corner of the table to display the context menu
- Select Paste all
Copy data to the clipboard:
- Right- click on the top left corner of the table to display the context menu
