Introduction to stiffness modifications
In practice, it may happen that selected parts of a structure are not always acting with the same stiffness. It may happen, for example, that fresh concrete members are not capable of transferring the same load as the dry concrete members. And the list of similar examples may be even longer.
The question raised here is: how could the engineer take account of this?
SCIA Engineer brings solution in the form of using stiffness factors for the modification of material properties. It is already allowed to apply Property modifiers which are used for all load cases. Stiffness modification 1D and 2D use the same principle as Property modifiers but they can be assigned only to certain load cases in the same way as absences always was.
Stiffness modifications are available in Model modifiers service and taken in account only for PPE default. If you switch to PPE v16 and older, you can see it in graphical window and edit already input ones but you could not input new one and they are not used in analysis. Only Absences from Modification groups are used.
